WRC this week!

Awesome job at the telethon! :D How fun was that?! They're still adding up all the donations, but expect it to exceed $800,000! Yay! Also - from the guy that introduced us:

Tell your dancers many THANKS!
Warmly,
Tom Overlie
KTTC-TV

Yay again!

This week Tuesday we'll review Hold Your Horses, Shakin', Time for me to Fly, All Shook Up, and Turbo Polka. Well, as many of them as we can get to anyway. Also if there are enough people I want to start working on Grassy Creek again.

This week Thursday we'll finish Bout It and will run the advanced steps. If there is time we'll review Makes Me Wonder and KY Borderline.

Just a reminder that beginner classes start next week! Classes are $44 for seven weeks, meeting every Monday from 7 - 8 PM at Sky Oaks Elementary. Click the link below to register:

"Minutes" from last night's meeting.

Hi all!

Please read through this and let me know if I've forgotten or misinterpreted anything that was discussed at the meeting last night. Also it occurs to me that only half of who I consider to be "voting members" of the team were there. If those who were absent have any concerns or questions, we can call another meeting. Thanks! :)

Summary of WRC meeting on 1/15/08:

- It was suggested that there are adult dances and kid dances. That way everyone has a chance to dance and a chance to be in the front row. At 2008 performances Tuesday dances will be adult dances. Any kids who want to dance these songs must stand in the back row. Thursday dances will be kid dances. Any adults that want to dance these songs must stand in the back row.
- It was suggested that we get new costumes for the 2008 performance year. Those with ideas will meet further and bring final suggestions back to the group.
- Dancers are uncomfortable using the mirrors in the studio as they get into the habit of watching others. From now on we will face the back wall. It was agreed that this means a change in teaching style. I can’t dance and watch without mirrors, which means that when I teach, I won’t be dancing.
- It was suggested we find new venues to perform at and do not perform at Delano again. Delano is the only venue that invites us to dance, so we will continue to perform there. All dancers are welcome to set up performances. Whoever has an idea of where we should perform should call them and set up a date.
- The kids should have consequences if they disrupt class as it is disrespectful. I will do better at reprimanding them so that they pay attention.
- It was suggested that we spend more time reviewing old dances. The first hour of every class will now be spent working on a new dance; the last 30 minutes will be spent in review.

WRC this week! Please read and comment!

Hi all!

OK listen up there is lots of info here! :)

This week Tuesday we'll work on Cry of the Celts for the telethon and then review Hold Your Horses, Shakin', and whatever else we have time for. This week Thursday we'll run Cry of the Celts again and keep working on Bout It and the advanced steps.

Tuesday night at 7 PM there has been a request to have a WRC meeting for adults only. All adult dancers (and parents!) are welcome to come discuss what dances we're working on and any other concerns or items that you want to talk about. We will meet at the Subway next to the dance studio.

Saturday is the telethon! We're running the dance at the Mayo Civic Center right at 9 PM! Please be there by 8:45 to make sure you find the practice room on time. If anyone needs to carpool, let me know. We'll be on TV at 10:30 - although we might go on a little earlier! Costumes will either be black pants and a WRC shirt or black pants and a black t-shirt. I'll let you know as soon as it's decided so please be ready either way.

For the telethon, I am expecting only Cindy, Jess, and Jillian. No one else has signed up - so if you are planning on going please sign up below immediately. We need to know how many people we have for our ending formation.

The other thing I've requested a response to is the competition/workshop schedule below. So far just Jess and I are going to any of them (and Shelley to KC!), so if you had been planning on it too - you need to let me know ASAP!

February 28 - March 2, 2008: the EPIC conference. This is a workshop and competition in Pigeon Forge, TN!
April 4 - 5, 2008: City Slicker Stomp - workshop and competition in Kansas City!
April 19 - 20, 2008: Northern Colorado Clogging Championships in Fort Collins, CO - this is a competition only!

Just to recap - sign up below for:
1) the telethon
2) any workshops/competitions you want to attend.

Thanks and see you soon!

- Tammy :)
